These walls

An empty room filled with heartfelt memories, time has played its role and in turn we have played ours, within these walls we have built lives, and as we leave, these lives do not end; instead they branch out to reach and touch other lives helping those to form new ones. As time quickly passes so do memories fade, but not these memories, not these built in these walls, when we were at our strongest and at our weakest these walls saw it all, heard it all and as the pillars on each side, they provided strength, like a God they gave us faith and as devoted believers we had hope that these walls would raise us as strong, humble and inviting as they were. Departure may be tough but it is in  here where we have learnt independence, it is in these very walls where we have spoken about being other people, the people we were meant to be, it is in this very room where our blind eyes were opened to the opportunities we were yet to see, it is in these very walls were our muted voices could be heard, our screams which fell on deaf ears arrived to welcoming ears  , our cries for help, our soft throbs which left stains on our pillows, all of our pain understood, all of our wounds healed. These walls provided us with something beyond what we could imagine, it opened our eyes, our hearts and our minds, a portal to heaven I would call it, where we choose to look past the bad and see the good, where we continued to love in spite of all the pain, where we choose to move on and dance in the rain. We do not live our lives as victims as these walls did not shelter us from the pain to try and protect us, but instead they let us feel the pain, in order to teach us, to help us understand how it really is out there. Our wounds may be healed but these scars still remain, and like a trophy we carry ours, we embrace them, as each day passes we remember exactly how we got them. The more we may try to forget is the more we always remember that our lives were nothing, and meant nothing until we made it into these walls.
