We usually refer to this statement as “Practice what you
preach”. It is used when you do what you say. My elders believe that you have to
listen to the message they are telling you and not follow their actions. For
most of us, that is difficult to do. We would rather listen to someone who practices what they preach. I for one do not want to follow a life of double
standards where I say one thing and do the opposite.
If you want people to believe in what you are saying, you
need to make it believable. You do this by demonstrating and portraying what
you said by action. For instance you cannot tell a person to stop drinking when
you are drinking your liver to a pulp, you are n being a hypocrite.
The best motivator to help you practice what you preach is
being around people who don’t. You do not want to be remembered as a fake. If you
say to someone that they must not do A,B and C start with yourself and make
sure you do not do A,B and C.
